Help! Children stuck inside a phone?

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

Yep, I feel you… You’re used to take a lot of pictures of your child with a mobile phone. And, the pictures are only in your phone. Grandma doesn’t get a chance to see them. Neither does grandpa.

What happens to the photos when you lose your precious iPhone? What happens if you by accident throw your cool Android phone against the wall?

What if these little accidents made no difference?

The new mobile app lets you save the photos and stories of your child directly from your mobile phone to Intoloop. In seconds.

Feel the sweet relief when memories are safe.

No more talk, check out this video:

Removing Child’s Page And Bug Fixes

If you accidentally created an extra page for a child you can remove it from your profile page.

Many small bugs have been fixed in this release. Most of them were related to Internet Explorer and Safari browsers. To get the best experience, we highly recommend Google Chrome as a browser.

P.S. If you happen to have a website or a blog of your own, please consider placing a link to www.intoloop.com. Every link helps!

Online Baby Book Just Got Better

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

We rewrote almost the entire online baby book from the scratch. This way it’s even faster, lighter and prettier than before :) Check out the new user interface from the image below!

New Feature Highlights

Faster Photo Upload

New photo upload is many times faster than the previous one. Now all the photos are resized before sending them to the Intoloop server. This means that less broadband is used and photos get uploaded faster. If you have a modern web browser (Firefox 4 or Google Chrome) the uploading is also completely Flash free and much lighter.

Photo_upload

We made an improvement so that photos stay in order after you’ve uploaded them. They are no longer changed randomly.

Age Is Shown On a (Faster) Timeline

Age of the child is now clearly shown on the timeline. We also made the size of the timeline larger and the scrolling much faster (higher frame rate).

Timeline

Fresh, Newly Designed Events

We completely rearranged the layout of the events so that photos are on the top of the event.. Now you can directly access and view the photos without additional scrolling.

Adding a new event and editing an existing one have a new design. All the details of an event are automatically saved every time you click outside a text box.

How To Take Beautiful Photos of Your Toddler

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Get On Your Knees, Crouch, Crawl

Get on the same level with your child. Don’t make her look like a dwarf :) When you get on the ground you’ll most likely catch the attention of your target. Not to mention more interesting shoots you will get.

Try continous shooting mode. Toddlers tend to move around quite fast and it’s often matter of a fraction of a second whether you capture the moment or not.

Photographing While Playing

Let the children play! You’ll get the best shots when she is enjoying what she does. Obvious? Could be, but worth mentioning :) Take the photos while she’s doing something that she really likes.

  • Ask your child to show you her favourite toys. Let her play with them. Ask her to introduce her most precious toy to another adult while you’re taking shots.
  • Take her out to play. Go to the park. Take a few photos while she’s swinging and sliding down a slide.
  • Ask her to jump off a bench, somersault on the ground, run towards the camera, etc. Let her express her personality!

Have Some Fun

As Darren Rowse wrote about photographing children:

The key to good kid shots is to rediscover your own inner child. Kids love to have fun, they do the unexpected, they love to experiment and test things out and they love to play. Approach photographing them in this spirit and you’ll find your pictures take on a wonderful childlike quality.

Choose the Best Shots

As always, remember to pick the best shots right after transferring the photos to you computer. The less you have, the better. Try to eliminate 90% of the shots immediately. It’s tempting to include yet another photo to the album. You’ll thank yourself later for doing the elimination. Trust me! You’ll probably take hundreds or thousands of photos of your child during the first years. It’s a mess to later find the good shots.

There’s a good article on Phototuts+ on how to choose your best photos in a series. Section 3. has a nice example on narrowing down any group of pictures if you wan’t to quickly skim the best parts.

Share Some Fun

After you’ve had some fun photographing your beloved toddler and chosen the best shots it’s time to let the close ones to enjoy the photos as well. Write a heartwarming stories behind the photos and share them privately with family and friends.

Photos On a Timeline And Managing Family

Photos On a Timeline

We brought more visualization on the timeline. If there are photos attached to an event, a thumbnail of a photo is shown next to the event on the timeline. We really love this! I hope you do too :)

Being the Boss Of the Family

As a parent, you can now manage the family and friends even more precisely than before. You have the possibility to remove friends from seeing your child’s events, more closely manage family relationships and even remove your child from Intoloop Kids.

Be Gone My Friend

Did he say you were ugly? Or even worse, called your child names? Get rid of him. Just click the cute edit switch on your child’s page and remove that rude friend.

Removing a Child? That’s Just Cruel

Did you accidentally create too many pages for your children? Now you can get rid of them. Go ahead and click edit on your profile page to see the extra buttons. Just be really really careful not to remove your actual children. They might not like it :)

If for some bizarre reason you were invited to follow the life of a child you’re not really that interested in, stop following it! It’s only one click away.

Family Relationships

Grandpa doesn’t like to be called just a general grand parent. Neither does godmother want to be called a god parent. We like to bring joy and happiness to people! That’s why from now on, grandfather is a grandfather and godmother is a godmother.
